THE DOWNTOWN FESTIVAL™ is a celebration of independent film, music, art, and culture held across Lower Manhattan each October. Through film premieres, anniversary screenings, live music performances, artist talks, and one-night-only events in iconic cultural venues and underground spaces, the festival brings together emerging voices and established artists across generations and disciplines.

Founded by filmmaker Rebekah Sherman-Myntti, the festival is an artists-for-artists platform dedicated to independence, discovery, and genuine artistic exchange. The Downtown Festival offers an independent, community-centered alternative to an increasingly corporate festival landscape, inviting artists to share their work, connect directly with audiences, and form lasting creative relationships.
