DT:NYC:: DAY TWO

Day two of Downtown Festival is upon us!

After a killer day one with amazing performances from Andrew Wyatt, Black Hippy, Earl Sweatshirt, Sky Ferreira, Palma Violets, Royal Teeth, Beach Fossils, Nguznguzu and so many more, we’re ready to gear up for round two!

DIIV (formerly Dive, after the Nirvana song) is the dreamy, guitar-driven project of Zachary Cole Smith (formerly of Beach Fossils) guitarist Andrew Bailey, bassist Devin Ruben Perez, and ex-Smith Westerns drummer Colby Hewitt. Their debut Oshin received plenty of buzz and critical acclaim. Make sure you come check out what all the fuss is about tonight at Mercury Lounge with Lodro, Xray Eyeballs and DJ Dog Dick.

Purity Ring is the ethereal electro-pop duo of Corin Roddick and Megan James. Tinged with equal parts indie pop and R&B, this genre-melding duo is a powerful force. Catch them tonight at Bowery Ballroom in all their dark, beatific glory along with Mas Ysa.

Inc., the Prince and Luther Vandross-worshipping brothers from L.A., are redefining the alternative R&B sub-genre. Their sound is understated and finely tuned, drawing on a wide range of influences. Catch their sweet, plaintive vocals and masterful craft tonight at Pianos with Autre Ne Veut, Weeknight and DJ Thanksgiving Brown.

Trash Talk  is a thrash punk band from Sacramento, California recently signed to Odd Future Records. Taking influence from American hardcore and speed metal, you can expect a wild, high-energy show tonight at Cake Shop with Cities Aviv, Low Fat Getting High and Shackletons.

Ratking, the self-described “sewer royalty” is a maverick hip-hop act from New York. Garnering Odd-Future comparisons and critical acclaim Ratking manage to mix youthful hardcore energy with pure NY beats and rhymes in a post-hip-hop crew. Check them out tonight at Tammany Hall with Black Dave, Vashtie, Mr. Muthafuckin Exquire, AWKWAFINA, Hefna Gwap and Farrington.

Ducktails is the solo project of Matthew Mondanile of Real Estate. All burbling analog synths, bedroom processing, and sunburnt soundscapes, be sure to catch his atmospheric pop sounds tonight at Rockwood Music Hall with TEEN, The Chevin, San Fermin, Jade <3 and Blind Benny and Rocket and the Ghost.
