DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
New York City can give us the highest of highs and break our heart in the same crazy night. True connection is what most of us are looking for, but the constant need for excitement and the urge to avoid responsibility means few can stay still long enough to let it develop. Luna is a young woman experiencing upheaval—looking for the next adventure before she has to face the reality of her situation—but nothing seems to come easy for her tonight. Who can she trust? How does she respond to the characters she comes across? What happens when the night ends?

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Photographer and filmmaker Kava Gorna was born in Poland and grew up in New York City, where she earned a BA from NYU Gallatin School. Gorna’s distinctive engagement with the female gaze yields material both exalted and rooted in the familiar iconography of the American everyday. This signature perspective has been employed by brands such as Calvin Klein, Levi’s and Nike, as well as publications such as Vogue and The New York Times. In 2016, Gorna published her limited edition artist’s book, “100 Cheeks”, which promptly sold out. Gorna’s growing video work has been commissioned by Mercedes, The Standard Hotel Group and others. She currently lives and works between New York and Los Angeles. AFTERPARTY is her first short film.
