WORLD PREMIERE
SYNOPSIS
Rose's father has just died. He had a "touch" to him that she seems to share, and she isn't sure what to do with it as it begins to creep into her life. Her mother, Annie, was always outside this connection her daughter and husband had - now that he's gone Rose is farther away than ever. They move to a place where James Dean died on a notoriously dangerous road. Rose starts seeing strange things all around her and slowly deteriorates, while Annie learns about the death of an unknown girl at the famous intersection and begins a kind of communion with her - the one person she can give love to. Rose and Annie are finally led back to each other, with help from the one person they never expected.

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
THE JUNCTION is based loosely on a song I wrote, but the fully-fleshed story poured out of me following the breakdown of someone dear to me. It also reflects an obsession I have with the idea of who gets to be remembered once they're gone. I had recorded a song called "Staff of the Flag", which I wrote after noticing that the memorial to James Dean in Central California got all the attention even though several people have died in that same spot over the years. I thought it would be interesting to write about a mother who places flowers at a site where her child was killed, across the road from the movie star's shrine. When my dear one had her breakdown and I was powerless to help her, that's when I started thinking of that location as a way of expressing the pain involved when you can't give someone your love. It's almost like being haunted if you are that hamstrung person, or like being possessed if you are the person who's too deep into their own torment. I was lucky that the script came very quickly after having had this experience, and the group of people I found to make the film with me were the perfect match for this story. I had worked with Ryan Orozco, Zach Passero and Andrew Smetek before on a music video - they are the El Paso, TX team that brought this to life, and having worked for years with my friend Lucky McKee, they had lots of experience with making fantasies on the page become realities on screen. I am grateful to them and to everyone who helped me make this story.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
AJ Lambert has made a career out of music, but film has always managed to find a way into her work. As a solo artist she has directed several of her own music videos, and has a past as a music supervisor, working for such directors as Lee Daniels and Bob Gale. Nowadays she can be found performing the "suicide songs" of her grandfather, Frank Sinatra, at piano lounges around the world, while continuing to make her own experimental music and videos.
